ARRIVE: MARRAKESH

Overview:

Welcome to Morocco! Our adventure begins in the vibrant, sensory-rich city of Marrakesh. Please plan to arrive at Marrakesh Menara Airport on November 6th, or earlier if you’d like a little extra time to settle in.

Once you’ve made your way through customs and collected your luggage, our driver will be there to greet you and bring you to Riad Kniza—our beautiful home for the entirety of this journey. Tucked into the Medina, Riad Kniza offers that old-world Marrakesh feeling so many of us dream about: carved wood, quiet courtyards, timeless design, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that invites you to exhale the moment you arrive. After travel, there will be time to rest, unpack, and ease into the rhythm of the trip at your own pace.

Later in the afternoon, we’ll come together for some mint tea and our first chance to connect as a group before heading out into the energy of Djemaa el Fna. As evening falls, the square comes alive with music, movement, food stalls, and the kind of everyday theater that makes Marrakesh feel unforgettable.

That evening, we’ll enjoy our first dinner together at a local spot, taking in the atmosphere, the flavors, and the excitement of being here at last.

Welcome Dinner

MARRAKESH MEDINA

Overview

We’ll ease into the morning with breakfast at the riad before heading out for a full day exploring Marrakesh with our local guide. We’ll begin in the Medina and the Jewish Quarter, taking in some of the city’s most meaningful and storied places along the way. Highlights of the day include the Bahia Palace, the Ben Youssef Madrasa, the Secret Garden, the Mellah, and the bustling lanes and souks that give Marrakesh its unmistakable rhythm and color.

As we move through the old city, you’ll experience Marrakesh in that layered, sensory way that makes it unforgettable—ornate architecture, carved doorways, tiled courtyards, spice stalls, lanterns, textiles, and the everyday beauty of life unfolding around each corner. There will be time to browse, take it all in, and enjoy the energy of the souks with the insight of a guide who helps it all feel more approachable and less overwhelming.

After a full and beautiful day, we’ll return to Riad Kniza for a slower evening. You can take time to rest, recharge, or simply enjoy the quiet atmosphere of the Riad. Dinner will be at your leisure that evening.

MARRAKESH: GUELIZ “THE NEW CITY”

Overview

After breakfast, we’ll head to Majorelle Garden to wander its vivid paths and take in one of Marrakesh’s most iconic spaces. With its striking cobalt blue, lush greenery, and quiet corners, it feels both inspiring and serene—a beautiful change of pace and a chance to slow down and simply enjoy where we are.

Next, we’ll visit the Yves Saint Laurent Museum, located just beside the gardens. Here, we’ll spend time exploring the designer’s life, vision, and creative legacy through a collection that offers both beauty and context. It’s a thoughtful and visually rich experience, especially for anyone who loves design, fashion, and the way a place can shape an artist’s point of view.

Afterward, we’ll enjoy lunch at Moro, then spend part of the afternoon exploring some of the galleries and shops in the neighborhood, with time to take in a bit of Marrakesh’s contemporary art and design scene. It’s a lovely way to experience another side of the city—creative, stylish, and full of texture.

We’ll return to Riad Kniza for a relaxing evening and dinner at the riad, giving us time to unwind and reflect on another beautiful day together.

HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS

Overview

After breakfast, we’ll leave the city behind and head into the High Atlas Mountains for a day that offers a more intimate look at Morocco’s Amazigh culture and daily life. The scenery alone is worth the journey—wide mountain views, earthy villages, and a slower rhythm that feels deeply grounding.

With a local host guiding us, we’ll begin with a gentle walk through the hills, taking in the landscape while learning more about the traditions, customs, and everyday life of the Amazigh communities who have lived in this region for generations. Along the way, we’ll visit a village and have the chance to experience daily life a little more closely—meeting residents, observing traditional crafts, and seeing how families care for their land and prepare food.

We’ll share a home-cooked lunch in a peaceful mountain setting, with simple, delicious dishes that reflect the warmth and hospitality of the region. Before heading back to Marrakesh, we’ll also take part in a mint tea experience and learn more about this beautiful ritual, which holds such an important place in Moroccan hospitality and connection.

By evening, we’ll return to Riad Kniza with time to rest and take in all we’ve experienced—another meaningful day, and a very different side of Morocco.

MARRAKESH- ART & CULTURE

Overview

After breakfast, we’ll begin the day with a calligraphy workshop and an introduction to Arabic language, offering a beautiful window into one of the region’s most expressive art forms. This experience invites us to slow down, pay attention, and connect with Morocco in a different way—through gesture, meaning, and the visual beauty of the written word.

It’s a thoughtful and creative start to the day, and a chance to engage with the culture in a way that feels both grounded and memorable. Whether you’re naturally artistic or simply curious, this experience is about presence, discovery, and enjoying something new together.

Later in the afternoon, we’ll shift into rest and ease with time at Les Bains de Marrakech for a traditional hammam and massage experience. It’s the perfect counterbalance to our days of exploring—an opportunity to slow down, be cared for, and enjoy one of Morocco’s most well-loved rituals in a beautiful setting.

By evening, you’ll return feeling refreshed, relaxed, and ready for a slower night in Marrakesh.

MARRAKESH- ART & CULTURE

Overview

After several beautiful, full days together, this morning is intentionally left open for you to enjoy at your own pace. You may choose to rest at the riad, revisit a favorite corner of Marrakesh, or spend some time shopping in the souks for textiles, ceramics, spices, or a few special treasures to bring home. It’s a chance to move more slowly, follow your curiosity, and enjoy the city in your own way.

Later in the day, we’ll come together for a henna workshop in a local family home. This experience offers a warm and personal glimpse into an art form that has long been part of Moroccan celebration, beauty, and tradition. We’ll learn more about the cultural meaning of henna, see the process up close, and experience the hospitality of being welcomed into a home setting.

It’s the kind of afternoon that feels both intimate and memorable—simple, meaningful, and rich with connection. Afterward, we’ll return to the riad with time to relax and enjoy a slower evening.

AGAFAY DESERT

Overview

Today we’ll head out to the Agafay Desert for a day that feels both expansive and unforgettable. Just outside Marrakesh, Agafay offers a very different side of Morocco—wide open landscapes, quiet beauty, and that feeling of being somewhere truly removed from the pace of the city.

While we’re there, we’ll enjoy a camel ride through the desert, taking in the stillness, the light, and the striking scenery around us. It’s one of those experiences that feels iconic, yes, but also surprisingly peaceful when you’re in it.

As the day winds down, we’ll gather for a farewell dinner in the desert—our final evening together in a setting that feels both beautiful and memorable. Sharing a meal under the open sky is a lovely way to reflect on the week, celebrate all we’ve experienced, and soak in a last bit of Morocco’s magic before the journey comes to a close.
